There are 10 main elements to ensure that your artwork is production ready, below is a synopsis for you to check before uploading your artwork.

1. ARTWORK COLOUR MODE

All artwork must be supplied in the number of colours quoted be it one colour, back& white or full colour. All artwork should be converted to CMYK and not RGB colour format. If you have run into this problem previously, see how to fix it here.

2. SAVING / EXPORTING FILES

Save / Export files with a vector-based program such as Illustrator and CorelDRAW in a PDF file format. When using image manipulation software such as Photoshop, the programs create rastor images and the end result will be pixelated if not correctly set up. Always save as a High-Quality PDF with bleed or when using Canva select PDF Print (Select crop marks and bleed) or PNG (Convert to CMYK afterwards online)

3. SIZE AND NUMBER OF PAGES

The artwork should be the same size as the specifications. The page numbers should match up to the number of pages mentioned in your order specifications. Unfortunately, if this doesn’t match the artwork will be reported, here is a quick link on how to fix page size and number of pages.

4. SUPPLY ALL PAGES AS SINGLE PAGES.

All pages should be supplied as single pages in one pdf document, not spreads. There is one exception: PUR-bound brochures with a specified spine size must be calculated. Request the spine size of your order here.

5. OUR HEARTS ARE BLEEDING FOR SOME BLEED.

All paper print products should be supplied with 3mm bleed, and trim marks.

All large format products should be supplied with 5mm bleed, and trim marks.

Bleed is the design extending beyond the trim mark of the page to ensure that it prints to the edge of the page after trimming to prevent white edging when cutting. Here’s how to add bleed. Remember to keep the inner 3mm margin of your design clear of text as this will be a risk for element cut off.

6. FLATTENED ARTWORK

Printulu requires that all artwork files supplied are flattened PDFs to ensure file integrity. Simply put it must not be a working file. Alternative formats that are technically flattened if you don’t know how to flatten your file: Jpeg, PNG, Photoshop PDF (Without editing capabilities).

7. HIGH RESOLUTION

All images within the artwork must be high-resolution (300dpi). The higher the dpi, the sharper and clearer the image will print. If your artwork has been reported for low resolution, here is how you can fix it.

8. INDIVIDUAL FILES FOR EACH JOB.

Supply separate artwork for each of the products you have ordered. Remember one product equals one design unless you requested a customised quotation.

9. 100% BLACK

Remeber to ensure that text is 100% K value when you have ordered black & white products OR Black changes only products such as calendars. Text or elements should not be a colour mix of CMYK. (Protip: Avoid using registration black). Here is a link on how to fix it should you have run into this problem before.

10. EMBED YOUR FONTS & CHECK YOUR SIZE

Ensure that all fonts are embedded or converted to vector paths (Outlines /Curves / Paths). Here’s a quick video on how to convert your text.
Paper Products Font Size: Minimum 5pt

Large Format Products Font Size: Minimum 8pt
